INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Many independent schools operate exemplary international student education programs. Please contact individual schools using “Find a School” or search bar to learn more about the benefits of their program.

International students must be in possession of a student visa to attend a BC independent school. The visa must be applied for while the student is outside of Canada, and the student must have a letter of acceptance from the school prior to applying for the visa. Independent schools may not claim government grants on behalf of international students.

2012 International Survey Report: This 2012 survey was completed in support of the BC JOBS PLAN to determine the number of international students currently in independent schools and the potential growth of international enrollment in the next 3 years.

BC K-12 International Student Homestay Guidelines: The Ministry of Education in consultation with district and independent school representatives has created guidelines pertaining to homestay arrangements for international students attending BC K-12 schools.
