The Associate Member Society (AMS) is FISA’s largest associate, with over 150 member schools, enrolling more than 23,000 students. The AMS represents a wide variety of independent schools, with many emphasizing a specific teaching approach such as Montessori or Waldorf; a specific category of student such as special needs students or First Nations students; or a specific religious association such as Jewish, Muslim, Sikh, or Christian not affiliated with the other FISA BC associations.

Every two years, AMS member schools elect persons from among the schools in this association to serve on its board. Members of the AMS board also sit on the FISA BC Board.

All AMS schools have access to a dynamic community of practice that empowers their unique school identities.

The AMS represents and supports its member schools by fostering communication, connection, and cooperation with other AMS schools, FISABC, and government.

Note: Independent schools must successfully complete the Ministry of Education and Child Care External Evaluation process in order to be eligible for AMS membership. Interim certification status is insufficient for membership consideration.
